DESCRIPTION

-Dolo-Vet Oftálmico is a solution that contains as a broad-spectrum antibiotic gentamicin, with an analgesic, non-staphyloidal anti-inflammatory and antipruritic in Veterinary Medicine.

-Dolo-Vet Ophthalmic does not depress the immune system and therefore does not predispose to secondary ocular infections by viruses and fungi released from ocular tissues. Because it is a potent, anti-inflammatory, it facilitates the arrival of the antibiotic at the site of infection.

-Does not produce significant effects on eye pressure.

-Does not produce teratogenesis, embryogenesis, carcinogenesis, or impaired fertility.

-More antibiotic concentration than the competition.

-In post-operative surgeries such as ectropion and entropion Dolo-Vet Ophthalmic favors the healing process, controls post-traumatic inflammation and also unlike steroidal anti-inflammatories produces good analgesia; it avoids itching and contributes to the animal's rapid recovery.

- Treatment of choice in allergic conjunctivitis.

- Its mechanism of action is due in part to the ability to inhibit the biosynthesis of prostaglandins.

FORMULA

Each ml contains Gentamicin Sulfate equivalent to 5 mg Gentamicin Base Trometamine of acid (+/-) - 5-Benzyl-2, 3 dihydro-1H, pyrrolizine-1-carboxylic acid, equivalent to Ketorolac base 5 mg Vehicle cbp 1 ml

INDICATIONS

Dolo-Vet Ophthalmic is recommended for the treatment of inflammatory and allergic reactions that involve the superficial structures of the eye when it is suspected, anticipates or confirms the presence of bacterial infections sensitive to the action of gentamicin such as conjunctivitis, blepharitis, iritis, uveitis, keratoconjunctivitis , keratitis, ocular trauma and ocular post-operative states. Its use is recommended for Bovines, Sheep, Caprines, Horses, Pigs, Dogs and Cats.

PHARMACOKINETICS AND PHARMACODYNAMY ABSORPTION

Ketorolac as part of the group of NSAIs Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory analgesic is absorbed well in a weak acid environment. It is normally ionized in the plasma and consequently absorbed by ion uptake or dilution mechanisms. The conjugation of plasma proteins plays an important role both in the excretion in proximal tubular cells and filtration of vascular behavior to inflamed tissues.

The absorption of Gentamicin after local application in healthy mucosa is minimal and has no systemic effects. The absorption of Gentamicin increases in irritated mucosa, with lesions or burns proportional to the extension thereof and has systemic effects.

Gentamicin is absorbed perfectly well in soft tissues either topically or subcutaneously, producing effective blood levels reaching its highest peak in 30-60 minutes.

It has a wide distribution, reaches pleura, bile, conjunctiva and mucous membranes.

Therapeutic concentrations of Gentamicin are achieved in the aqueous humor after subconjunctival administration.

It is rapidly excreted by normal glomerular filtration with a half-life of approximately 2.5 hours and as an alternative it uses active excretion in bile.

Gentamicin binds to existing receptors in the 30s ribosomal subunits, causing the inhibition of ribosomal protein synthesis in the bacterial cell.

In patterns of sensitivity of bacteria in the eye, gentamicin showed to have one of the best percentages of sensitivity comparatively with betalactams, tetracycline, neomycin and polymyxin B. In ophthalmic application.

Ketorolac is the only member of the NSAIAs indicated for the control of ocular scratching due to seasonal allergic conjunctivitis, in part due to its prostaglandin inhibitory effect.

The ocular administration of ketorolac of tromethamine, reduces the levels of prostaglandins PGE2 in the aqueous humor.
