What is Bravecto?
Bravecto is a soft chew that is given every 12 weeks. Bravecto kills adult fleas and is indicated for the treatment and prevention of flea infestations and the treatment and control of tick infestations (deer tick, black-legged tick, American dog tick, and brown dog tick) for 12 weeks. Bravecto also kills lone star ticks for 8 weeks.

Who is it for?
Bravecto is for dogs only. Dogs must be 6 months of age and older, and 4.4 lbs of body weight or greater.

What are the benefits?

* Easier, more convenient, and cleaner than spot-on applications
* A single oral dose every 12 weeks
* No need to isolate a treated pet as with spot-ons

How does Bravecto work?
The active ingredient in Bravecto is fluralaner. Fluralaner works on the nervous system of fleas and ticks, causing hyperexcitation and death.

Is there a generic equivalent available?
No.

How is it given?
Bravecto is a soft chew that is given orally and should be given with food.

What results can I expect?
Bravecto kills adult fleas and is indicated for the treatment and prevention of flea infestations (Ctenocephalides felis) and the treatment and control of tick infestations (deer tick, black-legged tick, American dog tick, and brown dog tick) for 12 weeks. Bravecto also kills lone star ticks for 8 weeks.

Treatment with Bravecto may begin at any time of the year. In areas where fleas are common year-round, treatment should continue the entire year without interruption. To minimize the likelihood of flea re-infestation, it is important to treat all animals within the household (along with the environment) with an approved flea product.

What form(s) does it come in?
Bravecto comes in a soft chew.

What should I discuss with my veterinarian while considering Bravecto?
If fleas or ticks are already present, discuss what other control measures should be used. Talk about what flea products to use on any other pets in the household, since all pets should be treated if there is an infestation. Have your veterinarian explain the life cycle of the flea and how that influences the effectiveness of flea products.

As with any medication, notify your veterinarian of any other medications or supplements your pet is taking, and also if your pet has had any reactions to previous medications or supplements.

What should I do if I miss a dose?
If you miss a dose, contact your veterinarian for advice on when to give the next dose.

What is the most important information I should know?
Bravecto is only for dogs. Do not use in dogs less than 6 months of age or less than 4.4 lbs of body weight. Do not use in cats. Bravecto should only be given to the animal for whom it was prescribed.

Who should not take it?
Not for use in animals hypersensitive (allergic) to fluralaner.

What side effects may be seen when taking Bravecto?
May see vomiting or diarrhea. Consult your veterinarian if you notice either of these side effects.

If your pet experiences an allergic reaction to the medication, signs may include facial swelling, hives, scratching, sudden onset of diarrhea, vomiting, shock, seizures, pale gums, cold limbs, or coma. If you observe any of these signs, contact your veterinarian immediately.

How is it stored?
Store at or below 86 degrees Farenheit. Keep out of reach of children and pets.

What should I do if I know of or suspect there has been an overdose?
If you know or suspect your pet has had an overdose, or if you observe any of the side effects in your pet, contact your veterinarian immediately.
