PREVICOX contains Firocoxib, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID) that acts by selective inhibition of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) mediator of prostaglandin synthesis. COX-2 is the main isoenzymaker responsible for the synthesis of prostaglandins mediating pain, inflammation and fever. In in-vitro studies of whole dog's blood, firocoxib showed a selectivity for COX-2 about 380 times higher than for COX-1.
Dosage and mode of use:
Administer 5 mg/kg weight once daily by mouth. PREVICOX ®are divisible tablets, to ensure an exact dose with a caramel smoked flavor, to make them more attractive to the dog, facilitating their administration.
Indications
PREVICOX is indicated in dogs for pain and inflammation relief associated with osteoarthritis and for the control of postoperative pain and inflammation associated with orthopedic, soft tissue and dental surgeries.
